If "The Turning" leaves you screaming, it'll probably be out of frustration over its abrupt, unsatisfying ending and not the actual frights that precede it. The Turning would still be a bad movie had it gone through with what it was setting up, but at least its badness would be well-intentioned. Instead, what we got feels like a ghost of the past. This is the type of sequence that is common in horror movies, but apparently they didn't want to waste too much time on this side character. It just stops, leaving viewers to puzzle over the surreal images that close out the film. Unfortunately, the reviews for this movie were forgiving, if anything, and I wasted precious time that I'll never get back. For once, I blame none of this on the acting, which I found to be convincing and entertaining.
