In The Main Event, all the usual elements are there: the bright, pretty girl who the whole school has a crush on; three bullies who pump themselves up by deflating the nerds; a Goliath-wannabe wrestling opponent; and a dad who doesn't quite know how to bond with his son after the devastating departure of his wife. Leo even has his own teachable moment when he gets too full of himself and almost blows his chance at being a budding school star. The script for "The Main Event" wants to make it about the heart that it takes to be a wrestler worthy of the WWE, but this movie is so blatantly not about that.

That's just what O'Neal does for a living. Karas balances the movie's clowning with a human. A great kids movie and a must see for any young fans of the WWE and wrestling!

The Main Event

The Main Event is a fantasy story, filled with plenty of things that would not make sense in reality. After all, while Smackdown star Otis does a lot of silly things in the ring, he's never. With Seth Carr, Tichina Arnold, Adam Pally, Ken Marino. With Barbra Streisand, Ryan O'Neal, Paul Sand, Whitman Mayo. A bankrupt entrepreneur attempts to recoup some of her losses by getting a washed-out boxer she picked up as a tax loss back into the ring - an idea her protégé isn't fond of. It was also the impetus for Streisand's first foray into disco singing the Golden Globe-nominated theme song written by Paul Jabara and Bruce Roberts.

Trailer The Main Event

Screen Rant The Main Event Review: WWE Studios' Kids Comedy Has Its Goofy Charms Both amusingly ridiculous and completely by the numbers, The Main Event makes for generally watchable (though very disposable) kid-friendly fluff. It's really just an excuse for a parade. The Main Event is a light comedy that takes the joys of a real WWE match — the escapism, the performance — and gives them a kid-centric spin.

Karas balances the movie's clowning with a human story, while showing empathy for childhood growing pains. The Main Event is glossy, cheerful, corny, predictable, poorly directed propaganda, but it's absolutely on point with the branded message! If you love the WWE, you're gonna love this movie!
